Andrew Vastagh of Boss Construction, “David Bowie” - Rachel Hendrix

With “David Bowie,” Andrew Vastagh of Boss Construction does an excellent job of using a combination of black, white, and colors.  It is not easy to mix both black and white and colors successfully.  To me, this work screams pop culture through the use of the bright blue and pink along with the girl as the subject and New York city scene as the ground.  This silkscreen is one of my favorites, and I would like to incorportate digital images into my prints.

Comment for “This Is My Year” by Coni Della Vedova - Rachel Hendrix

I really enjoy the bold colors used in “This Is My Year.”  The work is simple but effective through the use of text and colors.  The title and text obviously state the exact meaning of the work.  It is a clean 2-color screenprint.  When I reach a higher level in printmaking, I want to use a wide variety of colors to experiment with and create successful prints.
